The title track, Sabali, begins with gently tinkling n'goni. Marbara's lead vocal is delicate and textured, rising to peaks. This is counter balanced by gorgeous backing vocals in repeating chorus. A whoop and trill, brings in a bass pulse, probably a bolon. Then the lead vocal kind of scats off this. The backing singers stop and the music circles about. This isn't the big belter of the full throttle griot. The vocal phrasing swells and pushes, and is humanly textured, full of feeling.

I simply love this Toureg kind of desert blues. If you like Tinariwen or Tamikrest check out this band in exile. I sincerely hope, that they will soon be able to play in their home country, again...

Sublime and self confident. A timeless classic. Powerful and sometimes strident Malian vocal backed by one acoustic guitar. That's all that's needed to continue the beauty of a culture. The recording quality is great, there's texture in the vocal and guitar, and space in between.
